Professor Kwame Ohene Buabeng is the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at UHAS, effective September 1, 2023. He is the Vice President of the Ghana College of Pharmacists. He has held several positions both in academia and the pharmaceutical industry, and He is currently Head of the Technical Working Group on Antimicrobial Stewardship, Ghana.
Education
Prof. Buabeng has a PhD in Pharmacy-Social Pharmacy (Drug Utilization and Health/Pharmaceutical Systems Research) from University of Eastern Finland (2010); MSc, Clinical Pharmacology from University of Aberdeen (1998), B.Pharm from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1990, and a Certificate in Public Health Science Research and Ethics from the Nordic School of Public Health, Gothenburgh, Sweden.
Work Experience
Prior to joining UHAS, Prof. Buabeng was the Vice Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, KNUST. He was previously Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the same university. He has also lectured at the University of Eastern Finland and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, and consulted for the Ghana Access and Affordability Program. He was also, briefly, a consultant for WHO developing and reviewing educational modules for health managers and policymakers for awareness creation and containment of antimicrobial resistance in Africa.
