Dr Cornelius Dodoo joined the University of Health and Allied Sciences in 2018 as a Lecturer with the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology, School of Pharmacy. He is currently the Acting Head of the Pharmaceutical Microbiology Department.
Education
Dr Dodoo read Pharmacy at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi for his undergraduate studies and graduated in 2009. He then pursued and completed a Master of Science programme in Drug Delivery at the School of Pharmacy, University College London, UK between 2010 - 2011. He received a Commonwealth Scholarship in 2013 to pursue a PhD in Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy, University College London.
Work experience
After his PhD, Cornelius worked briefly as a Research Associate for Symprove Biosciences, UK. Prior to joining the University of Health and Allied Sciences, he was a Consultant for the same company where he provided expertise on probiotics as well as developed bioscience and marketing materials. Cornelius has also served as a Scientific Officer with the Testing Directorate of Ghana Standards Authority in the past. In 2017, he was awarded an Associate Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy, UK in recognition of his teaching activities during his PhD.
Research output
Dr Dodoo’s research interests include probiotic science, antimicrobial resistance, precision medicine, 2D and 3D printing, and the human microbiome. He is open to collaborations in any of these fields
