About the Department 

Pharmacy Practice is a discipline of Pharmacy which involves developing the professional roles of pharmacy students into pharmacists. These roles include dispensing of prescription, communicating to patients and prescribers, providing Pharmacotherapy to in-patient and outpatient within the hospital set up as well as the community Pharmacy. Other roles include but not limited to other cadre of staff within the other health care providers, health promotion, immunization, health screening among many others.

 

Pharmacy practice bridges the gap between the pharmaceutical sciences in other departments in the applied sciences in the School of Pharmacy. There are courses which hinge on the practical applications of theory. These include Pharmacy Communication and Patient Counselling, Pathophysiology and Therapeutics and Pharmaceutical care.

 

The Department of Pharmacy Practice (PP) is one of six academic departments within the School of Pharmacy and it is geographically located on the University’s main campus at Sokode-Lokoe, Ho. PP is an interdisciplinary department with faculty engaged in scholarship, practical teaching across disciplines encompassing clinical, basic and social sciences.
