Admission requirements for entry into the PhD degree programme:
- Applicants must hold an MSc by research, MPhil degree or its equivalent in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular and Cell Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences or any other relevant field of study from a recognized institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
- An MPhil (Pharmacology) candidate of the Department who satisfies conditions for conversion to PhD (Pharmacology) may also be admitted. Please see section 8.2 below.

Applicants must pass an admission interview
All applicants are expected to submit the following during their applications:
- Two reference statements/letters from professional and/academic referees.
- A Statement of Purpose from the applicant (not more than 500 words).
- Research proposal (not more than 700 words).
- Original transcript of the degree(s) obtained.
Only candidates who meet the minimum requirements upon review of submitted relevant documents, will be shortlisted and invited to undergo a selection interview by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee. If it is not possible for candidate to attend in person, other methods may be employed.
The Departmental Postgraduate Committee chaired by the Head of Department shall evaluate all credentials and where necessary shall refer these to appropriate bodies, such as the Graduate School, University Academic Board or the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for interpretation and advice.
