To ensure impactful and cutting-edge research is conducted in the School to serve our local, national, and global communities.
Priorities
Increase grant submissions and success rates to support innovative research.
Support faculty to improve the quality of diverse scholarship activities.
Develop very strong interdisciplinary research collaborations and activities.
Advance basic, clinical, and translational research.
Foster a culture of service to the University, the profession, and society
Advance scholarship of teaching and clinical service.
Actively participate in the development of UHAS’ policies and procedures for the conduct of ethical and impactful research.
Ensure faculty, staff, and students have sufficient competence in grantsmanship, teaching, and publishing to be competitive
Target
To become a leader in drug discovery and development, basic biomedical sciences, and clinical research focused on translational sciences.
Indicators
At least five (5) research proposals submitted annually for external grants
An increased number of grants won by faculty in the School
At least twenty (20) publications from the School annually
At least 50% of research articles from the school should be collaborative work from faculty from different departments and with other institutions
Annual performance reviews showing that all students and faculty are well informed about, and can apply UHAS research policies and procedures in the conduct of their research work
All faculty of SOP are actively engaged in diverse activities towards the development of the university, pharmacy profession and Ghana at large
Biennial scientific and grant writing workshops for students and faculty
